成人直播 (BU) welcomed delegates from Vietnam鈥檚 national broadcaster for a media management training course.聽
The Faculty of Media &聽Communication invited 21 international media professionals from 'Voice of Vietnam' for a two week聽visit to聽learn about聽UK media practices from BU staff and UK media organisations.
'Voice of Vietnam' is Vietnam's national broadcaster, whose headquarters are based in Hanoi, with several regional stations situated across the country. For many of the delegates this trip was the first time meeting their colleagues from other parts of the organisation.聽
Delegates' time was divided between classroom-based sessions and a series of field trips to UK broadcasters. They visited offices at the聽BBC, Reuters, Channel 4 and also ITV Meridian, where they were given extensive access behind the scenes as ITV prepared for and transmitted its lunchtime news bulletin. 聽
Subject areas covered in the programme included corporate strategy in the media, change and organisational culture聽and聽media branding and brand management,聽all taught by BU academics. One聽unit, entitled聽'TV formats: managing creativity', was delivered by BBC production executive Julia Weedon.
The visit was organised by the faculty's Business Engagement Consultant, Liam Toms with聽Dr Dan Jackson, Head of Knowledge Exchange for Corporate and Marketing Communications programmes, leading聽the academic elements of the visit. Dan commented,聽
鈥淭his聽project is exactly the type of high-level, specialised knowledge exchange that we want to be doing."
"The Voice of Vietnam project was built around established staff research in the areas of media management, media economics and public broadcasting. It was also a very successful collaboration between colleagues from across the Faculty of Media and Communication.鈥
In light of this successful trip the team at 成人直播 are keen to provide similar opportunities for international delegations to visit the UK and learn from UK media practices.聽
