Charities can find out more about protecting sensitive data during a free cyber security workshop at 成人直播 (BU).
听
The will be run by BU鈥檚 Cyber Security Unit for around 60 Dorset-based charities, to help them implement and maintain processes to ensure information is managed safely and securely.
The session will inform attendees of the requirements of the current and future Data Protection legislation, and the controls which charities need to have in place. It will also provide practical examples of how Data Protection in a charity actually works, including real life case studies of where and how breaches have occurred in the sector.
It has been funded by Dorset Police鈥檚 Safer Dorset Fund, and there will also be an opportunity to speak to Dorset鈥檚 Cyber Crime Prevention Officer, Jake Moore. He will give a presentation on the risk of cyber crimes from a policing perspective. 听
The workshop will also deliver education and guidance to charities to help reduce the risks of becoming a victim of cybercrime.
Dr Christopher Richardson, Head of BU鈥檚 Cyber Security Unit, said: 鈥淚 believe this to be an important opportunity to comprehend the impact of the new European regulations on general data protection (GDPR). In a few short hours we can analyse the risk on holding personal identifiable information and what this might do to Dorset charities. 听This session will present different perspectives of this regulation from concerned parties and law enforcement.鈥
The CyberSmart Training Workshop runs from 10am on Thursday 16th March at 成人直播鈥檚 Talbot Campus, with lunch provided.
