Free public talks will take place across Bournemouth and Poole as part of 成人直播鈥檚 2018/19 Fusion Inaugural Lecture Series.
The series provides an opportunity for professors from across all faculties at the university to share insights into their work and research and its impact on society.
Seven free public lectures will be held between October 2018 and May 2019, covering topics including oil markets, computer animation, sporting mega events, and social work.
The events will take place at locations across Bournemouth and Poole 鈥 including Poole Lighthouse, Bournemouth Natural Science Society, Vitality Stadium, and Royal Motor Yacht Club in Sandbanks 鈥 as well as on BU鈥檚 Talbot and Lansdowne campuses.
The first inaugural lecture in the series will be given by Professor Sam Porter, Professor and Head of Department in Social Work and Social Sciences, and takes place at the Shelley Theatre in Boscombe on Tuesday 23 October.
In The fine art of healthcare: using art to think about people and practice, Professor Porter will discuss his research into caring for people who are reaching the end of their lives.
BU鈥檚 Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Tim McIntyre-Bhatty said:聽 鈥淥ur successful inaugural lecture series returns this autumn and will see BU visit seven locations across Bournemouth and Poole, with the aim of sharing our research expertise with our local community.聽
鈥淭he series will begin in the Shelley Theatre with a lecture from Professor Sam Porter, who is well known is his field for his research, which focuses on one of the most difficult and sensitive areas of human experience: caring for people at the end of their lives.聽
