In 2019 BU will be听taking the Global Festival of Learning to Vietnam and you can apply to be a part of it.
The festival will take place from 1听until 5听April 2019 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. The dates of the festival exclude travel.

Global Festival of Learning:
BU鈥檚 Global Festival of Learning (GFoL) is an exciting platform for international public engagement. Through a series of free sessions open to learners of any age it celebrates learning, disseminates cutting-edge research and delivers impact across borders. It provides a forum for researchers, educators, policy-makers, businesses, learners, and the wider community, to engage in a programme of activities that fosters a dynamic exchange on how research, education and practice can enrich the global society within which we live and work.
What is involved?
Each of the BU festival delegations is joined by a group of BU students who directly support the preparation, delivery and evaluation of the events.
If successful, you will be working closely with students and staff at 成人直播 and overseas and will gain a well-rounded impression of the local cultural environment. You will be involved during the lead up to the festival as well as being an active participant during the week itself. You will also have responsibilities after the event when back at 成人直播 (e.g. editing film and photography footage etc.). The work will develop your team working, adaptability, communication and problem-solving skills as well as your cross-cultural skills.
You can apply for only one of the roles so please choose carefully which of the roles matches your knowledge, skills and experience. You'll be expected to actively contribute to the project outcomes dissemination after the festival. A detailed brief of the requirements will be supplied prior to the event, alongside relevant training and pre-departure training sessions for all roles.
Applicant roles and descriptions
There are three student roles available:听
- Social Media Content Writer and Coordinator - The role will involve producing images, text and short videos capturing the atmosphere of the festival; collating multimedia resources produced by the team and other festival participants and organising these in a structured and timely manner.
- Filming and Video Editing Operator - The role will involve taking video footage as directed throughout the event and working closely with staff and students at our partner institutions. This will also include all post-production work, and supplying footage to the Filming/Photography lead and/or staff back at 成人直播 who manage the relevant social media channels.
- Photographer听- The role will involve taking photographs as directed by the brief throughout the event and working closely with staff and students at our partner institutions. This will include all post-production work, and supplying images to staff back at 成人直播 who manages the relevant social media channels. Students will have to be confident users of professional-quality cameras.
What will the BU funding cover?
- Return economy flights (including airport and in-country transfers)
- Visa
- Accommodation
- Meals
- Local transport
- In-house training for the role.
You are advised to bring your own spending money for any purchases you may wish to make while overseas.
Travel information
Visas
We will apply for a group visa application and organise this for you. You must have a valid passport with at least six months remaining with two clear pages. We cannot guarantee that your visa will be granted as this is subject to immigration laws. You will be expected to provide your passport for a considerable amount of time in order to process your visa application.
Immunisations
Please refer to the .
Students will need to book immunisations through their local GP at their own cost.
Insurance
BU will provide comprehensive travel insurance for the duration of the overseas trip.
Who is eligible to apply?
Please note the following eligibility criteria:
- BU student status (Global Talent Programme student only): You can apply if you are a BU student undertaking a Foundation, Diploma, UG, PGT, PGR, MRes or听MPhil. These exclude courses in franchise, validation, shared delivery or off-campus delivery programmes. Find out more about the Global Talent Programme and sign up.
听 - Not in receipt of funding for international activities in 2018-19 academic year: If you took part in any of the previous GFOLs or the Destination Summer School programmes in previous years, you can still apply to听GFOL 2019, however, you must not be in receipt of funding for international activities in the 2018-19 academic year. 听 - Completeness of the application set: Your application must be fully completed and your most up to date CV attached. Incomplete applications or applications without attached CV will not go through to the quality assessment stage.
When do I apply?
The call for applications opens on Monday 10听December 2018 and you can apply for a maximum of three opportunities in your application. The deadline is 9am on 7听January 2019.
How do I apply?
Please complete your 听and email your CV together with any relevant examples of work or your portfolio to [email protected]. The application is considered incomplete if one or more of the elements are missing.
If you are successful at the shortlisting stage, you will be invited for a short interview. The final outcome will be communicated to you within a week of the interview stage.听
Please note that an important part of your online application is the supporting statement. It should address the following points, providing specific examples where necessary. You will need:
- to outline how your specific skills will contribute to the Global Festival of Learning programme (e.g. social media content creation, filming, and photography);
- to demonstrate how the mobility programme will help you develop professionally, i.e. give you experience, skills relevant to your career goals;
- to demonstrate how the programme will enhance your intercultural competence and global awareness (global awareness is your understanding of global contexts and factors affecting your academic, professional and personal development).

How will participants be selected?
The selection of participants involves a two-stage process in which a panel first assesses applications individually. This is followed by an interview stage if successful at the shortlisting phase.
Please note the panel鈥檚 decision is final and we cannot provide individual verbal feedback on applications.
Important:听It is your responsibility to ensure all the necessary information is provided correctly. Incomplete or inaccurate applications will be marked as void and removed from the process.听
When will I find out if I am successful?
By 11听January 2019 you will receive an email confirming the outcome of your application status.
Application declined
If your application is declined you are able to apply again for a future programme (assuming that you still meet the eligibility criteria). Due to the high volume of applications received, we are unable to provide verbal feedback on your application.
