As part of our commitment to students, we鈥檝e made a number of IT improvements, enabling you to access PCs and laptops more easily and the ability to use the apps you need on any machine.
We鈥檝e added new technology, called AppsAnywhere so that you can聽now access many of your聽Windows software applications across campus. Today we are announcing that you can use those applications on your Windows computers both on and off campus.聽This means you no longer need to visit a faculty lab to work on a particular application, such as SPSS, Matlab or Eclipse - you just log in and open AppsAnywhere and there it is!
You can use AppsAnywhere on your own computer (as long as it is running Windows 10) by browsing to and logging in using your student account.

Extra computers
Earlier this academic year an extra 165 machines were added to聽the Sir Michael Cobham Library and Bournemouth Library,聽and thanks to the slim-line all-in-one space saving聽computers, the desks can now have more space for laptops and reference materials. This means there are now a grand total of聽587 general PCs available for you to use, making it easier for you to access a PC when you need one. We鈥檝e also added about 40 Apple iMacs to Open Access Centres.
Laptop loan scheme
Our popular laptop loan scheme聽also means you have access to 72 Macs which can be borrowed from three locations across both campuses:聽the Student Centre, Sir Michael Cobham Library and Bournemouth House.
Using Windows 10
We've upgraded all of your PCs to run Windows 10 to give you the most up to date operating system. If you need help getting used to it, book on to an聽IT Services training session via , or pop along and speak to the team in a聽Fusion Building聽pod on a Wednesday morning during term time.聽
