Business studies graduate, Jordan Stovold, has been named BU鈥檚 first Alumni Volunteer of the Year.
Jordan, who graduated in 2016, was nominated for the breadth and impact of his volunteering activities over the last year, which included providing guest lectures, mentoring undergraduates, speaking to applicants at open days and providing feedback to students via an expert panel.
Jordan is currently Strategic Product Development Analyst at computer software company, ibcos, having recently exited his first business 鈥� ViewScape 鈥� which he co-founded three years ago with a fellow BU graduate.
On receiving the award, he said: 鈥淚 specialised in innovation and entrepreneurship when I was studying at 成人直播, so I typically speak to students who are on the same pathway. I鈥檓 able to talk to them about what it鈥檚 like to start a business after graduating and what that entrepreneurial journey is like.
鈥淥ver the years I鈥檝e been involved in numerous ways, from being a panel member for start-up business pitches to mentoring those that have gone on to start their own business.
鈥淚t鈥檚 brilliant that the Alumni Volunteer of the Year Award has been developed and a great honour to be the very first winner. It鈥檚 a pleasure to be involved with the university and I really look forward to my continued involvement.鈥�
Dr Sukanya Ayatakshi-Endow, Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at 成人直播, said: 鈥淛ordan is a very supportive alumnus who is always prepared to make time to work alongside students and staff. He is a great brand ambassador, as can be seen through his career and passion for education. I am delighted to support his nomination for this award.鈥�
During the 2018-19 academic year, more than 140 alumni gave a combined total of 1,173 hours of volunteering. This included 116 mentoring partnerships and 56 guest speaker sessions.
