As part of the 鈥楲ive events鈥 unit on the听MSc Events Management听course,听three groups of听BU听students听have organised socially听significant听virtual听events.听
All three events demonstrate听student-led听fusion听activity听of research, education and professional practice, supervised by听Dr听Sakis听Pappous,听Deputy Head of Department in Sport and Event Management.听
Dr听Pappous听said: 鈥淲e aim to produce three tangible examples of working hand in hand with external听partners.鈥澨

Online yoga event, including two yoga sessions,听raising money for Lewis-Manning Hospice Care (Registered Charity no. 1120193)听helping people with life-limiting illnesses听and听their families across East Dorset.听The听beginner level, 90-minute听sessions听will be run by:听
A virtual evening of football fun,听live martial arts, quizzes and raffle draws,听all to raise funds for Onda听Solid谩ria, a听non-profit organisation听working in Brazil to transform the lives of vulnerable children and young people.听
Tickets are available听with a听suggested minimum donation of 拢5.听Every听participant will be听entered into a听free听prize听draw听on the night.听听
Juliette Sandkamp, MSc Events Management student and Project Manager for the Festival of Football said: "Taking part in this project has been a valuable learning experience. As Marketing Manager, I have had the opportunity听to apply academic events theory into a real-world setting, as well as utilising my previous professional marketing experience."听听
Fellow student Natalie Watson, Marketing Manager for the Festival of Football听event, added:听"I have gained valuable insight into all event management processes, cultivated my soft skills by taking on a leadership role and developed confidence in communication for my future career path."听
An online conference delivered in English听on Zoom,听with the听aim to听create inclusivity and听amplify the voices听of Paralympic Athletes听by providing a听platform听for听Paralympians听to听express their views on how they are portrayed听globally听by听the听media. The听hope听of these听conversations听is听to听influence听the media to make听changes听for听the听forthcoming Tokyo Paralympic Games.听听
MSc Events Management student and Project Manager听Rithika听Dorairaj听said: 鈥淢anaging this event has shown me that we have created man-made barriers that prevent people from participating in society, it could be something as simple as stairs. The most important thing is breaking down these barriers by promoting discussion around equality, disability and inclusion and this is what the event is aimed at doing.鈥澨
All the proceeds from the conference will be donated to Onda听Solid谩ria, a non-profit organisation in Brazil,听whose听aim听is to ensure听Vila dos听Sonhos,听鈥榯he Village of Dreams鈥, is inclusive for all individuals.听
The students have听also听set up a to help raise funds for the Village of听Dreams.听听
