Join us on Tuesday 23 November, between 12pm and聽1pm to shape our nature-focused action at 成人直播's聽second Climate Assembly.
The BU Climate Assembly is a space for individuals from across our BU community, including those from different courses, departments and individuals with a variety of interests and experiences, to gain an insight into BU climate action before sharing ideas and providing recommendations for how we should act on a topic. They happen twice a year and focus on a specific topic that is relevant to the BU community and can be influenced by their interests.
Our November Climate Assembly will focus on nature: nature-based solutions and supporting habitats on campus. 鈥楥aring for our eco-systems鈥 is one of our five themes in our Climate & Ecological Crisis Action Plan (CECAP) and this Assembly will explore how best to implement these relevant actions:
- Prioritise nature-based solutions
- Consider co-benefits of approach to carbon offsetting
- Identify opportunities to support nature
- Encourage staff and students to connect with nature
- Incorporate nature into education and research.
The session will start with presentations from the BU Sustainability Team who will introduce the CECAP and our ecosystems work to date. Dr Rick Stafford will also introduce the concept of nature-based solutions.
A structured discussion will follow after these presentations. The discussion will allow every voice equal weight and opportunity to speak. The result will be a set of recommendations that will be shared with the BU Sustainability Committee to review.
The commitment to Climate Assemblies was laid out in our CECAP, which also commits us to achieving net zero emissions by 2030/31 and work to realise our net zero vision: 鈥a BU community that recognises the need to live in harmony with the natural world to protect the survival and wellbeing of all communities and takes action to enrich society for the benefit of people and planet.鈥
