In November, 成人直播 Student Union-run radio station, , attended the national at the O2 arena in London. This annual awards ceremony recognises the achievements and talent of the student radio and audio community.
The south region was nominated for the 鈥楤est Event Programming Award鈥 for their twenty-four-hour charity live broadcast. This broadcast raised money for charities including, , , , and .
The broadcast consisted of a quiz, a song contest in which different universities from across the UK submitted a song, and a DJ set, played alongside their usual shows including Pip Hemingway and Bronwyn Reeve鈥檚 鈥榊our Oddly Specific Playlist title鈥, which aired at 4am.聽
They won silver for the 鈥楤est Multi-Platform Initiative Award鈥 for their Round the Clock Music quiz, which was a part of their twenty-four-house charity live broadcast. Students who support Nerve played the quiz as well as their friends, family, and followers. The quiz even attracted a global audience with players reaching as far as Brazil.
Joshua Dodd, Student Radio Awards South Regional Manager, and the broadcast organiser, said: 鈥淭he team at Nerve, just like the other stations involved, should be extremely proud of the part they played in the 'Round the Clock Radio Challenge', and the money we have raised for the six causes. It was a true pleasure to work with them and organise the event.鈥
Pip Hemingway and Bronwyn Reeve, Nerve Station Managers reflect on their experience being a part of these challenges: 鈥淥ne of our favourite moments had to be when everyone gathered round the clock to count down the final 30 seconds of the challenge, we all got a sudden burst of energy. Especially after we both completed our 4am show.鈥
Out of hundreds of student entries judged by nearly two hundred industry-appointed judges, Nerve has done extraordinarily well, Pip and Bronwyn, said: 鈥淔inding out we were shortlisted made us feel so proud, especially knowing we get to shout and celebrate in London and that South Region radio gets some recognition for the hard work we do. 聽All of us were so excited!鈥
Nerve is a Student Union-run radio station which was started by two students, David Harber and James Bromley back in 1995. The station attracts a wealth of talented students, many who have gone on to careers in radio.
