Following on from the show, some students have聽applied their聽final year project into industry. This includes Ellie Van Leeuween鈥檚聽final year project of Droplet, which combines a mug or drinking tumbler with an electronic base providing flashing light and sound reminders for hospital users to drink regularly. Droplet is now beginning its product lauch at targeted NHS hospital trusts, and care and nursing home providers.
Previous students have attained industrial awards.聽Fluvial Innovations, a company founded by graduate Simon Phelps, secured聽the prestigious accolade of the Queen鈥檚 Award for Enterprise for Innovation.聽This was awarded due to the company鈥檚 research and聽development of its flood defence system, Floodstop, which protects properties against the cost and misery which arises from flooding.
