Kayla Noble is stepping up as the college's first-ever choir instructor. Noble is currently a music specialist at Lincoln Elementary School in the Alexandria Public School District and the contemporary worship band director at First United Congregational Church. She also performs locally with her husband Raymond as part of a musical duo called The Nobles, who play acoustic folk-pop.
“I hope that this choir helps build community and culture on campus,” Noble said. “I hope to use traditional as well as some non-traditional choral methods in creating community and music to strengthen individual singers' unique voices in a choral setting. I hope students love choir so much that they take it again and again.”
Noble also has experience being a choral director for church groups, co-curricular groups, and kids’ choruses, a contemporary worship band director at multiple churches, and a vocal coach with the Minnesota All-State Women’s Choir, and the Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir. She has performed as a soloist with the Central Lakes Symphony Orchestra and in shows at the Andria Theatre.
She earned a bachelor's in music education from Concordia College, Moorhead, and a master's in Music Education at North Dakota State University. She is currently working toward becoming a fully Orff Schulwerk-certified music teacher.
“I am so excited, and I am hoping this is the beginning of a robust music program at Alexandria College,” Noble said. “I know Alexandria College has a reputation for being a great college with awesome law enforcement and nursing programs. Hopefully, we can add music to that reputation.”
