We all know our physical health can have a direct impact on our mental health. So, in support of University Mental Health Day, SportBU is hosting a wide range of events, from Monday 11 to Friday 15 March.ÌýÂ
Monday 11 March: Free classes, free gym entry and giveaways!ÌýÌý
This week we’re joining in with the . The British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) exists to support and improve the mental health, fitness, and wellbeing, of young adults, students, and staff, throughout the UK. Â
Find us at the gym or the ground floor of the Student Centre on Talbot Campus, where you can try out as part of the individual and team fitness challenges we’ll be hosting. There will be plenty of giveaways on the day, so come along at any time between 7am and 7pm to challenge yourself and just have fun!ÌýÌý
Our newly renovated gym will be open to everyone for free on Monday. And all of our fitness classes – including our new virtual LES Mills classes – will be free for the whole day, so why not give us a try?Â
Tuesday 12 March: Campus Sport showcase – give it a try!Â
Our Campus Sport programme gives you the opportunity to enjoy sport in a social, beginner friendly environment. Students have access to over 50 hours a week of activities across 19 different sports, so there's something for everyone!Â
On Tuesday, we’re giving you the chance to try out some of our most popular activities. There’s no need to book, just join us at the following times and locations: Â
- 12pm – 12.30: Wellness Walk and Talk: Meet Chris Payne from SportBU in the courtyard outside SportBU. A simple half an hour stroll to meet new people and learn about what Campus Sport has to offerÂ
- 12.30pm - 1pm: Running group: Meet Tim Harris from SUBU in the SportBU Reception for a casual run. Wear sporty clothing and trainers - all abilities welcome.Ìý
- 4pm – 5.30pm: Netball – meet in the Sports HallÂ
- 5pm – 6pm: Football – meet in the Sports HallÂ
- 5.45pm - 7pm: Handball – meet in the Sports HallÂ
Wednesday 13 March: Join us at Chapel Gate for a day of sporting fun
Jump on one of the free shuttle buses and enjoy a day of sporting fun at Chapel Gate! From 10am until 5pm you can watch our fantastic football, hockey and rugby teams showcase the new facilities, including the new 3G pitch.ÌýÂ
There will also be a range of wellbeing services that you can chat to on the day, including Dorset Mind, Samaritans, Live Well Dorset, in addition to our own BU wellbeing services. Â
If you’re looking for a place to unwind, head to our woodland area where you can relax by the fire in a hammock. You can also give one of our craft activities a go, like whittling, fire lighting, shelter building or soft tip archery. Paralympic British rower will also be joining us on the day.  Â
Excelsior coaches will be running at the following times from the bus hub at the front of Poole House. Free parking is available onsite, but it will be limited. The postcode to reach the site is BH23 6BL.Ìý Â

Friday 15 March: Free massages, rehab, classes, guest talk and moreÂ
On Friday we’re hosting REVIVE; a one-day health and wellbeing event that offers all BU students and staff a range of wellbeing advice as well as any physical rehabilitation you may need. Whether you're looking to make progress with your health and fitness goals or simply take a break from your computer, there's something for everyone to enjoy and benefit from. And for one day only, it’s all free!ÌýÌý

Women’s Health guest talk by Hazel Manrique, Cobham Lecture Theatre, Talbot Campus, 1pm – 1.45pmÌýÌý
Strength and Conditioning Coach Hazel Manrique will provide an enlightening and empowering guest talk on women's health and explore a number of key topics that directly impact the wellbeing of women, including hormonal health, understanding your cycle and exercise for women.
