A helping hand
The government offers听postgraduate student loans听paid directly to eligible students* over three听instalments听during the academic year.听The loan amount for 2024/25听entry is听up to a听maximum value of 拢12,471听(non-means tested).听
If you're not sure you can afford further study, you might be interested to hear about the additional support available. BU graduates can benefit from:
- 20% tuition fee reduction听for being a BU graduate*
- Non-repayable scholarships from 拢2,000* when you achieve a 2:1 or above.
Eligible postgraduate Doctoral students* can apply for a听听to contribute to overall costs.听For 2024/25听entry the loan amount is up to 拢29,390.听

Postgraduate Taught study
Complete a听Fast Track application form听specifically for current students looking to study further. There's no need to make a separate application!
Some of our postgraduate taught degrees have a January intake as well as September, giving you more flexibility over when you study.
Postgraduate Research study
For postgraduate research study, the application deadlines are as follows:
- For the autumn term (starting in September) - 16听June
- For the spring term (starting in January) - 31 October
- For the summer term (starting in April) - 31 January.
We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible, ahead of the deadline.
